I second everything Blondie said.
I knew a gentleman who was 1 of 12 and he told me he had a wonderful childhood.
They were poor, but his parents made the best of it.
They sure couldn't take any European vacations.

funny the way our minds unwind and refocus after leaving a high control religion.. when i first left the jdubs i saw them more closely to what the entire world sees them i suppose, but not truly clearly at those early stages.
they still looked to me to be 'good people' but misguided.
as time went on, though the misguided feature remained, the 'good people' supposition faded.
Zid,
No one alive can state for a certainty that God exists.
By the same token, no one alive can state for a certainty that God does not exist.
We can BELIEVE either one , but we cannot PROVE either one.
We can view the same evidence, or lack of it, and come to different conclusions about God's existence.
No one has the absolute knowledge to say whether there is, or is not, a God.
That is reality.
Now, if that is too real for some to accept, that's on them.

Jeff,
You cannot say FOR A CERTAINTY that those things do not exist.
That is arrogance.

It is good to know that there is no god, no sin, no hell, no heaven. It's good to know someone who has knowledge of all things seen and unseen.
Of all knowledge past, present and future.

does any one have any good theories on the true nature of reality?.
if you google this you come up with lots and lots of really wacky fringe science.. it's one of those things that shows just how little humans know about our existance or the universe.. some of the more interesting things i've read, are that our 3 dimensions are just a construct, time doesn't really exist, and another essay explaining that we can't trust our senses and they actually tell us very little about the world around us which is really full of electromagnetic forces, waves of various types and sub atomic particles.. i have started a thread before something along the lines of, i think therefor i am.
i exist on some level.
The true nature of reality is:
You don't even know if you are in a coma and your mind is creating all of this "reality".
You don't even know if you are just a character in someone's book and you have been created just for that purpose.
You don't even know if you are sitting in a padded cell in an insane asylum, creating all of this in your psychotic state.
You also could be sitting on a bus bench talking to yourself as others try to keep as far away from you as possible.
Pilate asked "What is truth".
I ask "What IS reality"

today i saw a friend that is still a hardcore jw.
she knows we're not going to meetings, but seemed pretty cool with it and was willing to have lunch with me, so i thought why not?
she mentioned something about the convention coming up in a couple of weeks, and all of the sudden i got so nostalgic and felt like maybe i wanted to go.
Why are you here?
You are here because only those who were JW's can understand your feelings.
If you feel like going, go
If you don't feel like going, don't go.
I still go to an occasional meeting.
I backslap with a few friends and then I go home.
Look, I have a CA coming up in two weeks also and I'm going for one day.
Hair is not going to grow on the back of your hands.
No biggie, so don't sweat it.

anyone out there going to support obama and vote for him in 2012. i think it is time for change, and i hope in the second term he brings that change.
as he sure has not nothing in the last four years, and ruined this country and made it a mess while he blamed bush.
which, as we know, is a change from the rest of not taking blame themselves.
Your vote means absolutely nothing.
POTUS is an APPOINTED POSITION.

i've been reading posts on this forum for about a year now, but i never made an account or posted.
decided to jump in today!.
i was reading some posts here on crazy illustrations that jehovah's witnesses use (dented bread anyone?
I have a friend whose experience was shared at a CA and was also featured in the WT or Awake.
It's been so long I forgot which magazine it was, but I do know that the article actually omitted some things that my friends husband thought should have been included.
If you read about it, or heard the experience with an attitude like 'thefalseone' you would have never believed it, but the whole account was absolutely true.
